Self-Portrait

What is Portrait?

The portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, where the main face and expressions. The goal is to display the nature, personality and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in portrait photography is generally not a picture, but the image of a person in a position still. Portrait of the often shows a person looking directly at the painter or photographer, for most successful involves the subject with the Viewer.

Introduction Self-Portrait.

Since the fifteenth century and the advent of artists mirror has modeled for themselves in their own works of art. Whether it is a deep exploration of the soul of the artist himself or simply because as the model, the artist clearly cheapest and most available. Whatever the reason, almost every artist, in every medium from the artist to the carvers have tried self exploration. Through this study, I would like to explore the various types of portrait of yourself in order to understand why people who created these works and how they benefit from them. In determining the value of the private self portrait, I'll be able to create a portrait of yourself and build a variety of elements that the artist will find.

Pablo Picasso Self Portrait.

Picasso
Self-portrait 1901

Picasso painted his self-portrait in Paris in late 1901 before he left for Barcelona in January, 1902. This is a period of personal confusion for Picasso, well represented in this oil painting. In another sombre, unnerving work of the Blue Period, the heavy black coat, hair and beard, combined with Picasso's intensity of gaze, create a heightened sense of the macabre. It is almost a death mask with the framed whiteness of the face and hollowed-out cheeks.

This is a young man who seems old beyond his years. He is, without doubt, parodying one of Van Gogh's self-portraits with this air of austerity, as well as an El Greco - style monk or ascetic. However, Picasso, like his favourite Old Masters, was also in formative period of destitution, struggling with his potential talent while living off food parcels from friends.

When this portrait is compared with the later jovial and more juvenile face of 1907, one can clearly see the affectation of age. The later portrait begins the collapse of recognised form as part of the build up to Cubism. But here we are confronted with a sense of cold alienation, a confused artist torn between excitement at being in Paris and homesickness for Spain.

Conclusion.

Self-portrait has become self-exploration method since humans first gazed at his own reflection in a pool of water. Get started since then, mirrors start created because the advent of charmed harder again to capture a likeness. Even in a period of tens of years ago, many people are mesmerized by the way the artist to see themselves has led to exhibitions such as a collection of "Self-Portrait" Smithsonian National Portrait of the National Gallery.

From "Self-Portrait", we have found, the idea can be carefully staged to show spectators just artists want to project, or disclose, inadvertently displaying feelings of suffering and pain. "Self-Portrait" was used to test new techniques to make the signature mark, launching into a, remember the past, and as a way to release emotions. Any artist the way chose to build their image, they each had to learn their own personas both physical and emotional.

The artist started to look for a mirror to build yourself a second on paper or to the artist sketch. The various ways artists can sketch an image or "Self-Portrait" able to show him. Artists can be achieved using oil paint, crayon, try, spray for some "self-portrait" which is the experience cathartic, that release the emotional relaxation. For others, the process to reveal new insights about themselves and their work. For all artists, self-portrait which is exploration, the opportunity to view the image in the mirror and start looking into the soul.
